GymHits
iOS and Android app · 2025
A training social network, from scratch to the stores.
An iOS and Android app, a server and the infrastructure. Designed, built and maintained by the same team.
What the app does
- Photo check-in
- Proof the workout happened, not just the intention.
- Ranking among friends
- Who showed up most over the period, side by side.
- Day streak
- The chain nobody wants to be the first to break.
- Achievements
- Milestones that unlock over time and give something to celebrate.
- Volume statistics
- The history of load and reps, to see the progress.
The product
Training alone is easy to put off. GymHits puts the workout in front of the group: every gym visit becomes a photo check-in, and consistency shows up on a board everyone can see. The nudge stops being an app reminding you and becomes a friend noticing you were missing.
What had to be built behind it
A social app does not end at the screen. It needed accounts and authentication, photo storage, a server working out rankings and streaks, and the infrastructure it all runs on. App, server and infrastructure are ours: not a pile of third-party parts that change their pricing or shut down without notice.
Shipping is half the job
The app is live on both stores and still gets fixes and new features. Whoever built it is whoever maintains it, rather than handing the product to a team that never saw the code.
